Cybercrime@Octopus is a Council of Europe project based on voluntary contributions aimed at assisting countries worldwide to implement the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and strengthen data protection and rule of law safeguards
Project objective:
To support implementation of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime (CETS 185) and related instruments
Objectives:
- To ensure the organisation of the annual Octopus conferences;
- To co-fund and support the functioning of the Cybercrime Convention Committee with its enlarged membership, functions and number of meetings;
- To provide advice and other assistance to countries which are prepared to implement the Budapest Convention and related instruments on data protection and the protection of children
Duration of the project: 1 January 2014 – 31 December 2020.
Details
- Organize 5 Octopus conferences
- Support the participation of T-CY members and observers in the meetings of the
Committee, including Protocol Drafting Group and Plenary sessions - Support the assessments and other activities of the T-CY through research and
analyses - Provide logistical support to T-CY meetings as well as funding for translation and
interpretation - Support the participation of T-CY members in relevant fora
- Support the organisation of up to 30 in-country or regional workshops
- Contribute to up to 70 events organised by other organisations
- Provide legislative and other advice to countries worldwide
- Further strengthen the C-PROC to support capacity building activities worldwide
- Further improve the Octopus Community in terms of contents and functionalities
