OEWG Multi-stakeholder Exchange
Over the past two years the United Nations Open-ended working group on developments in the field of information and telecommunications in the context of international security (OEWG) has been discussing issues of critical importance to international security and stability. In January this year, the OEWG Chair published the Zero Draft of its mandated Report, based on those important conversations.
Following the success of the Intersessional Multi-Stakeholder Meeting in 2019 and the Informal Multi-Stakeholder Virtual Dialogue Series in December 2020, we want to engage the multi-stakeholder community again to discuss the latest draft. The consultations, taking place on 25th February (8am-Noon EST), will provide an opportunity for non-governmental organizations to highlight their views to government representatives ahead of the next round of discussions, and will focus on each of the six topics that the report touches on.

CyCon 2021: Going Viral
CyCon 2021's central theme is Going Viral. It alludes to the implications of human crises (such as the 2020 pandemic) for cybersecurity and cyberspace. At a more abstract level, it aims to encourage discussions on the impact of fast proliferation and high unpredictability in cyberspace. Whether they concern old threats such as malware or new trends affecting cyberspace such as information campaigns, these phenomena have major real-life implications. We need to acknowledge those, study them and strive to use them for our common benefit.

Research Institute in Sociotechnical Cyber Security (RISCS) Showcase 2021
The Research Institute in Sociotechnical Cyber Security is the UK’s first academic Research Institute to focus on understanding the overall security of organisations, including their constituent technology, people and processes.
By providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, problems and research solutions between academia, industry, and both the UK and international policy community, RISCS promotes and supports the development of scientifically rigorous sociotechnical approaches to cyber security. Central to the RISCS agenda is the application of bodies of knowledge to stimulate a transition from ‘common practice’ to ‘evidence-based best practice’ in cyber security.
During the 2021 RISCS showcase, 5 RISCS Fellows will present their views on the future research trajectory for sociotechnical cybersecurity and a panel will reflect upon it.
