Workshop on European Cybersecurity Capacity Building: Discussing the Oxford study on building cybersecurity capacity in Europe
The discussion will feature a presentation on the recently published report by the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre at the University of Oxford: ‘’The Solution is in the Details: Building Cybersecurity Capacity in Europe’’. The authors reviewed how the 2020 European Union Cybersecurity Strategy could be implemented to ensure more effective cybersecurity capacity building both within the EU as well as abroad. The discussion will be kicked off by a presentation of the research and its recommendations provided by Dr. Jamie Saunders, co-author of the study. After this presentation, stakeholders of the European cybersecurity capacity building ecosystem are invited to provide commentary and discuss the implications of the study.
Speakers will include:
• Agnese Sollero, Policy Officer for Cybersecurity, Science, Technology, Innovation and Digitalisation, DG International Partnerships (INTPA)
• David van Duren, Director, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE)
• Representative of the European External Action Service (EEAS)

Capacity Building – Bridging the Implementation Gap
16:00-17:30 (UTC+3)
Once again, Cyber Week is proud to present an event focused on sharing approaches for capacity building and building digital resilience. There is much to learn from existing projects and initiatives but we want to focus the discussion on bridging the implementation gap – how to make sure the work really makes an impact. Hear from leading lights in the community from multinational development agencies, country and project leads in this area and join the discussion on what should be done in order to achieve the desired results.
Tel Aviv University (TAU) is keen to continue the thought leadership in this area as part of it’s own work contributing to the world of cyber capability development, building on the Progress Methodology developed at TAU and the Regional Cyber Resilience Lab.
