Aims

Contribute to technical discussions which add to the wider Internet Governance debates

Outcomes

  • FIRST members functioned as lead experts to the Best Practice Forum on Cybersecurity, organized by the Internet Governance Forum in Guadalajara, Mexico, 2016;
  • FIRST members and representatives also participated as technical community members in panels at the IGF in Turkey in 2015, Brazil in 2014 and Azerbaijan in 2012
  • FIRST is organizing training on the Incident Response community and standards specifically focused on policy makers
  • Board member Serge Droz participated in the ICT4Peace Cybersecurity Policy and Diplomacy initiative in Vientiane, Laos;
  • Board member Maarten Van Horenbeeck participated in a panel on challenges in international cooperation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the 2nd Annual international Cyber Security Conference, organized by the Saudi Arabian National Cyber Security Center.

Activities

  • Participates in policy forums, such as the Internet Governance Forum, Global Conference on Cyberspace, ICT4Peace Cybersecurity Policy and Diplomacy Initiative to educate policy makers on incident response
  • Leads experts to the IGF Best Practices Forum on Cybersecurity
  • Helps develop technology expertise and capabilities of policy makers
