Summary

This project will increase cyber resilience in the ASEAN countries by increasing the understanding of the measures needed to fight cybercrime and build informal networks between ASEAN stakeholders.

Details

Aim

The exercises aim to:

  • Directly engage C-suite in cyber security by providing first-hand experience of decision making and communication during a crisis.
  • Assess incident response knowledge, identifying gaps and stimulating thinking on strategy.
  • Establish partnerships and relationships across sectors to increase collaboration on cybersecurity challenges.

Context

Southeast Asia is a region witnessing a remarkable pace of digital adoption. As a region it is expected to become an innovation powerhouse in the coming years. However, as is the case with any other region experiencing a similar fast digital uptake, this has increased vulnerabilities to cybercrime.

Activities

This project will bring stakeholders from several ASEAN countries together to participate in bilateral simulation exercises held in the region. The project will also conduct a regional simulation, based on a bespoke toolkit, which will test the ability of several ASEAN countries to cooperate and coordinate in a regional response to a large-scale cyber incident.
