Summary
The 1st ASEAN-Japan Information Security Policy Meeting: The Meeting was held from 24 – 26 February 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting was attended by senior officials from 10 countries in ASEAN and Japan. The Meeting shared views and exchanged information on: (i) creating secure business environment in the knowledge economy;(ii) building an environment for secure ICT use;(iii) government driven Information Security Strategy.
The 2nd ASEAN-Japan Information Security Policy Meeting: The meeting was held from 29 – 31 March 2010 in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting acknowledged the importance of promoting government driven measures for information security and agreed on the draft of the “ASEAN-Japan Collaboration Framework on Information Security”.
The 3rd ASEAN-Japan Information Security Policy Meeting: The meeting was held from 7 – 8 March 2011 in Tokyo, Japan. The Policy Meeting shared the view that promotion of information security measures led by the government was important. In addition, participants discussed regionally common issues and possible solutions (establishing a secure information communications environment and providing a secure business environment), and Japan and ASEAN agreed to jointly make efforts in raising awareness as a specific cooperation issue.
The 1st ASEAN-Japan Government Network Security Workshop: The workshop was held in Tokyo, Japan on 21 – 22 October 2009. The workshop discussed the leading role of governments in the promotion of information security and identified mechanisms to enhance the operational capabilities of ASEAN and Japan to ensure the security of government networks.
The 2nd ASEAN-Japan Government Network Security Workshop: The workshop was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 16 – 17 December 2010. The workshop discussed the importance of information security assurance for government networks, the necessity to develop an information security capacity building roadmap and initiatives for information security awareness raising.
Training: The 1st ASEAN-Japan Information Security Training. The training was held in Tokyo, Japan on 23 – 27 August 2010. About 30 officials from ASEAN countries gathered and studied the Operation and Strategy Development courses.
