Summary

From July 22-23, 2024, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in collaboration with ARKEP, the Kosovar Telecommunications Regulator, organized a pivotal Workshop on 5G and Telecommunications Infrastructure Security in Kosovo. This workshop was a significant effort to address critical aspects of cybersecurity within the telecommunications sector.

The event brought together experts from the U.S., Czech Republic, Croatia, and Albania, who shared their insights and experiences with Kosovar counterparts. The discussions focused on several key areas crucial for maintaining a modern, secure telecommunications network. Topics included the identification and restriction of high-risk suppliers, fostering interagency cooperation to exclude untrusted vendors, establishing robust security requirements for mobile network operators, and strategies to minimize dependency on high-risk suppliers.
