Summary

This project funded the second half of a one year deployment to Ghana of a Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) officer to provide advice on legal frameworks.  The project facilitated the introduction of procedures that allowed video evidence from witnesses outside Ghana to be used in court and supported a multi-stakeholder policy approach to the prevention of online child sexual exploitation. In addition to delivering training workshops and mentoring on cyber crime cases for prosecutors, the Criminal Justice Advisor also produced templates for case vetting, court hearings, victim/witness care and post hearing debriefs.

A workshop with the Commissioner of Police and senior commanders clarified the application of the Electronic Transactions Act 2008 and the Criminal Offences Act 1960.
