Summary

The ITU Joint ALERT – (Applied learning for Emergency Response Teams) cyber drill for Europe and CIS Regions was held from 21st to 23rd November 2017 in Chisinau, Moldova, at the kind invitation of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova. This event was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with the State Enterprise ‘Center of Special Telecommunications’ under State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova and the Regional Cooperation Council within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiatives for Europe and for CIS on Building Confidence and security in the use of telecommunications/ICTs agreed by the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2014.

This cyber drill was open to national CIRTs/CSIRTs and it is strongly recommended that at least two technical team members and one management level staff be present. This capacity building exercise aimed to enhance the communication and incident response capabilities of the participating teams as well as to ensure a continued collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the regions’ national Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs)/ Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs).
