Summary
The Cyber Affairs Branch is partnering with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) on an initiative focused on countering online disinformation and hate speech relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
IFES will work with partner countries in Southeast Asia to strengthen counter-messaging campaigns; raise awareness of states’ human rights obligations online; and promote regional and international cooperation on internet governance. The Cyber and Critical Tech Cooperation Program is also partnering with IFES in Indonesia.
These projects support Australia’s objectives of promoting human rights and democracy online; and strengthening cyber security for a strong and resilient cyber security posture.
