Integrating gender into cybercrime capacity-building

This research event and roundtable aims to provide capacity-builders with the tools to integrate gender considerations into cybercrime capacity-building programmes and activities.

Built around four of the five pillars of Chatham House’s Strategic Approach to Countering Cybercrime (SACC) framework, this toolkit sets out proactive and actionable steps designed to ensure the gender-sensitive design and implementation of a wide range of cybercrime capacity-building activities.

Bringing together experts to discuss the importance of gender perspectives in understanding cybercrime and the value of gender sensitivity in cybercrime capacity building, this session will also launch Chatham House’s integrating gender in cybercrime capacity-building toolkit.

Bridging Digital Borders: Cybersecurity Capacity Building in Latin America

The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) and Florida International University (FIU) are hosting a half-day conference. Cyber SMART Samoa Roadshow

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is partnering with CERT NZ with support from Cyber Safety Pasifika, NetSafe, Ministry of Police and Prisons, Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and Office of the Regulator will be in Savaii from 1-4 August 2023 for campaign called the ‘Cyber SMART Samoa Roadshow’ funded by CERT NZ and the New Zealand Government.

The initiative is aimed at promoting the cyber relationship between New Zealand and Samoa and underscores the commitment to support a Cyber Safe Samoa.

The roadshow highlights the importance of an all-eco-system approach to increasing Samoa’s Cyber resilience. This inter-agency approach will deliver a bespoke and culturally responsive programme that will cover all colleges in Savaii with sessions for students and the Parent Teacher Associations (PTA). The sessions will focus on lifting the profile of Samoan Ministries and their role within the Cyberspace. They will also educate students on ethics, how to navigate and use technology wisely. The PTA sessions will also focus on current cyber trends in Samoa, informing of incident log processes, cyber safety tips, upskilling their capability to help their children navigate the matters that may arise while online and how to support and supervise their children in their use of technologies and online services.

All agencies involved will provide valuable cyber related information to key members of the communities to support the establishment of Cyber Smart Samoa advocates in Savai’i.

Update for the Least and Other Developing Countries about International Cybersecurity Processes

UNIDIR, ITU, and Diplo Foundation are hosting an informative online webinar tailored for technical professionals in cybersecurity, policy makers, and diplomats from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and other developing countries to better understand current cyber diplomacy discussions happening at the international level.

This webinar, organized under the Cyber for Good project, aims to empower cybersecurity professionals and policy makers in LDCs and other developing countries to better understand key issues pertaining to cyber diplomacy discussions, particularly the Open-ended Working Group on the security of and in the use of information and communications technologies (OEWG).

The session will focus on key agenda points of the OEWG, to equip participants with an understanding of the current implications of these discussions. The OEWG represents significant progress in international cooperation towards an open, secure, stable, accessible, and peaceful ICT environment.

Through improved awareness about the OEWG, this webinar aims to enable LDCs and other developing countries to make informed decisions on cyber diplomacy.

The group is mandated to further develop the rules, norms and principles of responsible behaviour of States; to consider initiatives of States aimed at ensuring security in the use of information and communications technologies; to establish, under the auspices of the United Nations, regular institutional dialogue with the broad participation of States; to continue to study, with a view to promote common understandings, existing and potential threats in the sphere of information security.

2023 Cyber Threat Intelligence Conference

The Cyber Threat Intelligence Conference by FIRST provides a gathering place for experts in the field to share knowledge, contribute ideas, and learn the latest in proactive approaches in relation to threat intelligence. The format is formal and includes management, technical, and hands-on components. Plenary content focuses on discussions that are more sensitive and related to the day-to-day work of participants. Workshops are interactive and taught by leading security experts in small workgroup settings.

The Conference brings together stakeholders from various verticals that would not normally gather. The main goal of the forum stays true: to unite diverse stakeholders and provide an open forum for the development of new ideas and collaboration.

The 3-day programme offers workshops (ex. Intelligence Planning, CTI and Risk Management) as well as plenary sessions (ex. Building Good Intelligence Requirements, The Blueprint for Enduring Actionable CTI).
