Aim

The main goal of the Partnership for Strengthening Cybersecurity project is the reinforcement of selected bilateral and regional partners’ capabilities to prevent, mitigate and respond to cyber security threats and the further development of Germany’s cooperation with strategic partners in this area. The components of the scalable global project approach initially focus on the following regions: (i) Ukraine; (ii) Western Balkans; (iii) Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Context

Cyber security has come under severe pressure in 2022, including in several German partner countries. The increasing degree of digitization of economic activities and public services brings about vulnerabilities and leads to continuous threats from malicious cyber activities.

Outcomes

The Partnership for Strengthening Cybersecurity project will be a key instrument for Germany to provide technical capacity building, increase public awareness, and thus, effectively contribute to the global network of likeminded cooperation partners to advance cyber capacity building. The partnership will initially be implemented with Ukraine, the Western Balkans and the ECOWAS Commission.
