Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF)

Purposes of the JAIF:

• To support the efforts of the ASEAN Member States (AMSs) to pursue the comprehensive integration of ASEAN towards the realisation of an open, dynamic and resilient ASEAN Community as envisaged in the Declaration of ASEAN Concord II, by facilitating effective implementation of the ASEAN 2025 : Forging Ahead Together, and strengthening the functioning of the ASEAN National Secretariats of the new AMSs and the ASEC
• To support the implementation of the ASEAN 2025 Blueprints of the ASEAN Political Security Community (APSC), ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), with particular emphasis on the narrowing the development gaps among AMSs, as well as emerging regional challenges
• To promote cooperation between Japan and ASEAN (as well as between Japan and the individual AMS), including transfer of technology and inflow of investment from Japan to AMSs, trade and exchange of personnel, awareness and understanding of ASEAN among Japanese people, and ASEAN regional studies and research, as well as in other areas of cooperation as mentioned in the Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its Implementation Plan which was revised in August 2017
• To support operations of the regional or sub-regional organisations
• To support other activities considered appropriate by the Government of Japan (GOJ) and ASEAN (including its Member States).
