Cybersecurity Capacity Centre for Southern Africa (C3SA)

The Cybersecurity Capacity Centre for Southern Africa (C3SA) is based at the Department of Information Systems (DIS) of the University of Cape Town, South Africa. C3SA is a consortium between Research ICT Africa (RIA), DIS, the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC)/University of Oxford, and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).

Through establishing a C3SA, the project’s aims are to strengthen the region’s competence to fight cybercrime, to promote women’s participation in cybersecurity research and policy making, to increase the scale, pace, and quality of cybersecurity capacity-building and to contribute to an open, free, and resilient Internet. It will achieve its objectives by conducting regionally-focused research on cybersecurity capacity, by deploying the Cybersecurity Capacity Maturity Model for Nations that provides countries a baseline for capacity-building and resource allocation, and by developing and implementing locally-informed educational programmes.

C3SA is partner of the “Global Constellation of Regional Research Centres” of the GCSCC together with the Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC).
